Science Museum hosts UK Atomic Energy Authority FUSION22 conference

Wednesday, November 9, 2022 - 10:45

The Science Museum in South Kensington hosted a new international conference which showcased the goals and vision of the global fusion community.

The hybrid event, which was organised by UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) and The UK Fusion Cluster founding partners, saw attendees joining virtually or in-person where they were able to choose from a wide range of panel discussions and keynote speeches.

FUSION22 explored the exciting developments in fusion that could lead to near limitless and low carbon energy in the future. It also addressed the challenges the industry is facing to help accelerate the pace of development.

As the home of human ingenuity, the Science Museum was considered the perfect location to unite the global fusion energy community as it is rich with history yet forward-facing and dynamic.

FUSION22 took place across two of the Science Museum’s event spaces – Illuminate and the Information Age Gallery. Level 5 of Illuminate was used for networking, coffee breaks and lunch, with Level 4 and the Information Age galley hosting the panel sessions and keynote speeches.

Bryony Mitchison, Events Sales and Operations Manager, says: “It was fantastic to host FUSION22, a first of its kind global conference, at the Science Museum. We’re well equipped to host hybrid events meaning both in-person and virtual delegates had access to the same top-quality content and standout event experience. It was an incredibly informative and inspiring conference, which we were delighted to be part of.”
